Toyota has just revealed their new toy! The New Toyota Hilux will be on sale in 2021 and We cannot wait.
It's called the 'INVINCIBLE' however we just have one question will it live up to the expectations of Jeremy Clarkson? Back in 2007 Clarkson and Co. went on a trip to the Arctic Circle and completed this task in a previous version of the same car and the result was fantastic as you can see from the clip below.
Until now, European customers could only buy the 2.4-litre version and now they're finally going to be able to get the 2.8-litre diesel engine as well. It produces 201 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque and buyers can choose between a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission, available with both 2WD and 4WD. We all know the Hilux is a capable off-roader but Toyota worked to make it even better by improving the downhill-assist control, and by adding an additional traction and torque control feature when using 2WD mode. And there's also a tyre angle monitor.
The Hilux accelerates from 0-60 in just 10 seconds, which doesn't like much but we have to remember that A, this is a heavy truck and B, it can do that on any surface. The truck is available with single, extra or double cab*, with a loading capacity of 2,200 lbs and a towing capacity of 7,700 lbs.
Now, this truck is not supposed to be pretty, because that's not what it's for, but I still think it looks awesome, with the new three-dimensional grille, the new LED headlights and the black 18-inch wheels, which look good against the new Oxide Bronze paintwork.
Inside, you'll find a redesigned cabin with leather upholstery and a revamped infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen which also features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a 9-speaker JBL Premium sound system, climate control, parking sensors and sat-nav.
The truck is expected to reach showrooms in Europe by the end of the year.
*the Invincible version is only available as a double cab
