2020 Jagaur Face-lift Discussion

The 2020 Jaguar F-Type has been revealed with a sleeker design compared to the previous model. The front end of the car has been made wider to accomodate for the air intakes at either side of the car, while the lights have been made slimmer giving the car a new look design for the next decade.

The new F-Type is priced from £54,060 for the entry-level model, with R-Dynamic, First Edition and R versions completing the line-up.

Some of the most obvious changes come on the outside, where the whole front end has been redesigned. The car retains its familiar silhouette but new slimline headlines and a reshaped grille and bonnet are immediately obvious. The LED headlights sit lower and more horizontal than in the outgoing model while the grille has been widened and new bumper designs mark out different models in the range. The “liquid metal” bonnet has apparently been inspired by the soft organic shapes of the C- and D-Type, but now features larger air vents positioned further forward.

At the rear, the LED taillights have been slimmed down and smoothed into the bodywork, featuring the “chicane” graphic first seen on the I-Pace. Entry-level four-cylinder models get a new central quadrilateral tailpipe while V8s are marked out by quad exhausts mounted on outside edges of the diffuser.

Available in both coupe and convertible forms, the F-Type comes with three engine choices. A 297bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder kicks off the range, offered with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Nought to 60mph takes 5.4 seconds in either model, with economy of up to 35mpg.

Above that sit two supercharged V8s. The “lesser” one produces 444bhp and 428lb/ft for a 0-60mph sprint of 4.4 seconds while the F-Type R gets a power and torque boost thanks to some engine fettling. The 5.0-litre V8 now produces 567bhp (up from 542bhp) and 516lb/ft (up from 502lb/ft) and the all-wheel-drive-only range-topper will reach 60mph in just 3.4 seconds on its way to an electronically limited 186mph.
